Founded by second-generation winemaker Kara Groom, Ra Ra is all about championing lesser-known varieties, celebrating what makes each grape unique, and letting the fruit do the talking. With a love for bright, fruit-forward wines, and a healthy disregard for taking wine too seriously, Kara makes bottles that are meant to spark curiosity, bring people together, and remind us that wine is supposed to be fun.

What is your favorite undiscovered grape? Melon de Bourgogne! I love its versatility and how it can be bright and citrusy, textural and savory, or something entirely unexpected depending on how you work with it. I’ve had so much fun exploring its potential, from skin-contact wines to co-ferments, and I love showing people a side of this grape they might not have experienced before.

What was your first experience with an undiscovered grape? Riesling! It wasn’t my first time encountering it, but when I was living and working harvests in South Australia, I really fell in love with it. The crisp, dry, laser-focused style was so different from California Rieslings at the time.

What do you love most about the undiscovered grapes? Championing the underdog!
